2024 Softball America Top 25 Poll: Week 5

Oklahoma’s 71-game winning streak ended, but the Sooners remain atop the Top 25 poll. Similar to the criteria we used for Texas and Georgia not dropping last week, Oklahoma split its games against Louisiana including a run-rule win and hard to drop a team that lost in extras after going 71-1 in its past 72 games. The Sooners still have a pair of Top-10 wins this season to consider as well. The Red River Rivalry debate will eventually be settled come the first weekend of April.

Texas, Duke and LSU remain in the top five as Stanford takes Georiga’s spot after NiJaree Canady and Ava Gall lifted the Cardinal to an extra-inning win over the Bulldogs. Georgia doesn’t fall far despite two losses on the West Coast, due to challenging itself and picking up a win over Clemson during the week.

Cal jumps into the top 15 with its win over Georgia as the Golden Bears continue to impress this year as they turn to Pac-12 play. There were small shifts around the poll with a lot of teams dropping at least one game this past week. Maddie Penta got Auburn back into the poll, while Florida State fell out following its loss to Jacksonville.
