Dejah Mulipola signs with Oklahoma City Spark for 2024 season

The Oklahoma City Spark announced the signing of Dejah Mulipola on Thursday. Mulipola, an All-American at Arizona and part of the 2020 USA Olympic roster, had previously spent her professional career with Athletes Unlimited including her 2022 championship season.

“Playing for the Spark is something that aligns with me in this chapter of my life,” Mulipola said in a statement to Softball America. “I’m grateful to Athletes Unlimited and the opportunities they have provided, but I believe in what (OKC Spark owner) Dr. Tina Floyd and her staff are trying to accomplish. I hope that in the future we can all come together so that professional softball can be a full-time career for us female athletes.”

In 128 at-bats with AU, she had 43 hits, 14 home runs, 37 RBIs. Mulipola has always been highly regarded as one, if not the best defensive catcher in the world, why she was selected to be a part of the Olympic team

“We are thrilled to welcome Dejah Mulipola to the OKC Spark family. Her exceptional skills, leadership, and dedication to the sport make her a valuable addition to our team. We look forward to an electrifying season with Dejah on board,” Floyd said in a press release from the Spark.

The Spark will be playing independently after leaving the Women’s Professional Fastpitch League (WPF). There are plans to play fellow independent teams; Florida Vibe, Chattanooga Steam and the New York Rise.
