Players of the Month: Golembiewski, Kilfoyl, Groff, Beachum
Each month Softball America’s staff votes on a hitter, pitcher and a pair of freshmen that made a difference in the past month. Here are the choices for the first month of the 2024 season.
Statistics based on games from March 4 to March 31
March Player of the Month: Jenna Golembiewski, Miami
March Statline: 27-52 (.519 BA), 6 2B, 12 HR, 31 RBI
Golembiewski is currently tied with her teammate Karli Spaid for the most home runs in the nation (22) after she crushed 12 bombs from March 4 to March 31. She did that while getting more hits than outs.
March Pitcher of the Month: Lexi Kilfoyl, Oklahoma State
March Statline: 6-0, 0.68 ERA, 44 SO, 51 IP
The downballer capped off an impressive four-week stretch with back-to-back shutouts of Texas. Kilfoyl only allowed five earned runs over the past four weeks.
March Freshman Pitcher of the Month: Maddia Groff, Southern Illinois
March Statline: 8-1, 1 SV, 0.62 ERA, 60 SO, 56 IP
Despite Groff having her first collegiate loss, the freshman has shined in the circle all season. She had multiple 10 K performances, picking up eight wins and a save along the way.
March Freshman Player of the Month: Jaysoni Beachum, Florida State
March Statline: 23-51 (.450 BA), 4 2B, 3 HR, 17 RBI
Beachum continues to be a driving force in the great Noles lineup. For anyone to hit near .500 is impressive but even more so as a freshman.
