Woolery lifts UCLA past Alabama to open the 2024 Women’s College World Series

Alabama wanted nothing to do against Sharlize Palacios in the sixth inning. And rightfully so as she’s been the hottest hitter in the NCAA Tournament. The Tide decided to walk Palacios with Maya Brady in scoring position as the go-ahead run.

Kayla Beaver sat Megan Grant down rather quickly to record the second out of the inning to face Jordan Woolery. The 2023 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year is somewhat forgotten in the UCLA lineup. But she reminded everyone of her natural power.

The sophomore kept her hands in on an inside riseball from Beaver, lifting it for the decisive three-run home run in UCLA’s 4-1 win to kick off the 2024 Women’s College World Series.
