Baton Rouge Regional Schedule

Broadcast team: Kevin Fitzgerald, Aleshia Ocasio
*All times Eastern

  • Friday, May 17
    • Southern Illinois 5, California 4
      • The Salukis took advantage of five free passes in the second inning for a five-run frame. The Bears tried to battle back but Maddia Groff gutted through a complete game for the win. Cal had the game-tying run at second in the sixth until the runner left early ending the inning.
    • No. 9 seed LSU 5, Jackson State 0
      • The Tigers did what they needed to do. Raelin Chaffin went to distance for LSU with x strikeouts. LSU put up enough run support but didn’t get any big innings as three runs came on groundouts. Maci Bergeron prevented any stolen bases after Jackson State led the nation in steals per game this season.
  • Saturday, May 18
    • LSU 4, SIU 1
      • Taylor Pleasants and Sydney Berzon set the tone early for the Tigers. Pleasants took Maddia Groff deep for a two-run blast in the first. Berzon only allowed two hits through five innings, with neither leaving the infield. The Saluikis did score one in the sixth but RBIs from Ali Newland and Ciara Briggs. Berzon ended the game with eight strikeouts.
    • Cal 15, Jackson State 0 (F/5) (Jackson State eliminated)
      • A dominant effort by the Bears scoring 15 runs and allowing one hit. Cal got hits from 12 different players in the lineup. Elon Butler led the way with five RBIs that included a grand slam. Acacia Anders had a pair of hits and two RBIs as well.
    • SIU 3, Cal 2 (Cal eliminated)
      • The Salukis trio of stars moved them into the regional finals. Madi Eberle and Maddia Groff pitched well against Cal’s strong offense. The Pac-12 home run leaders in Elon Butler and Lagi Quiroga were held hitless. After an error extend the fourth inning and tied the game, Jackie Lis brought in the eventual game-winning run with a double as Groff closed the game the rest of the way.
  • Sunday, May 19
    • LSU 9, SIU 0 (F/5) (LSU advances to Super Regionals)
      • As poor as the second half of the season went for LSU, the Tigers never felt in danger. LSU immediately jumped on Maddia Groff for a first-inning run. The power really turned on. Taylor Pleasants, who is hitting the ball really well right now, capped of a five-run second inning. Maci Bergeron and Karli Petty blasted home runs in the third. Meanwhile, Kelley Lynch was an out away from her second no-hitter of the season. The pitching staff will be fresh for Super Regionals.
