    • Virginia Tech 5, San Diego State 1

    • No. 6 seed UCLA 9, Grand Canyon 0 (F/5)
      • The Bruins looked ready for vengeance after last year. In a rematch of last season’s Los Angeles Regional opener, UCLA powered past GCU. Sharlize Palacios and Maya Brady carried the load offensively. Brady had two doubles and two RBIs. Palacios crushed a pair of homers and drove in five. The run-rule also takes work off of Kaitlyn Terry, who improved to 19-1 with a two-hitter against the Lopes’ offense.

Jordan Woolery stepped up to the plate and smacked a ball off the wall in right field to score the tying run. Savi Pola delivered the final blow with a single through the left side to walk it off. A total of 22 hits on the day between both squads provided the crowd with loads of offensive entertainment. Kaitlyn Terry picked up her 20th win of the season in relief. UCLA advances to the regional final.

      • Meghan Golden’s complete game victory propelled the Lopes to the regional final. Golden was effective when needed allowing one run on eight hits.
